Aesthetics which is basically composed of visual elements that make ones visual personality very different.

What is Aesthetic?

Aesthetics is a branch of philosophy that deals with nature of beauty and taste as well as philosophy of art. It examines values often expressed through judgements of taste. It covers both natural as well as artificial sources of experience and how we form judgement about it.

Aesthetics considers what happens with our brain when we engage with objects or environments such as when we see art or listens to music or reading poetry or watching a fashion show or even when we explore various aspects of nature.

This aesthetic has been around for a long time but gained popularity these few years back. It is generally characterize by vintage features especially neo-classical architecture. This aesthetic comprises mainly of students , educators, universities and colleges and everything which surrounds them. This become popular among students because it helps them study better by romanticizing their studies.

There are many types of academia aesthetics but most popular ones are dark and light aesthetics. Based on style, thinking and interest one can associate themselves with these academic aesthetics. This style is based on love for learning ,research and academics. Key tones of such aesthetics are browns, blacks , earthy stones and key values include wisdom, existentialism and curiosity.

Dark Aesthetic

This aesthetic gives off late fall and candlelight in brick building vibes .Fashion inspiration of dark academia is from 1940s British boarding school uniforms which includes turtle necks, sweater etc. Also there’s a focus on layering with outerwear like jackets, cardigans, blazers and peacoats.

These tends to focus mainly on things like meaning of life, oppression and tragedy. Dead poets society ,kill your darlings, queen’s gambit are some of the movies with dark academia aesthetic.

Light Aesthetic

It gives spring morning picnic and dancing in white flowery cotton dress vibes. They put greater emphasis on lighter creams whites and light grey neutrals. They focus on lighter themes in its literature choices with stories focusing on — optimism, friendship and joy. Jane Austen's novel are a very nice example of this. Movies include Gilmore girls, Bridgerton and Pride and Prejudice.

Themes of both somewhat overlap such as antique book , fountain pens art museums , libraries , etc.
